David interviews historian Eduardo Galeano. Robin Collier photo

Barsamian will explore the history of U. S. imperialism and predatory capitalism and the “Obama Doctrine” in relation to traditional U.S. rules of engagement, and mass media's role in drumming up support for violent means to uncertain ends. Barsamian sets the historical context of U. S. complicity in the death squads of the mid 1960’s in Indonesia revealed in “The Act of Killing,” the chilling documentary film to be screened at the Harwood, Oct. 24/25. Does this complicity continues to this day?
